Two winners among the men!

O-festivalen / World Cup round 3

Peter Öberg (Sweden) and Karl Waaler Kaas (Norway) used exactly the same time during today's middle distance in Oslo! They shared the victory, ahead of Anders Nordberg.

Karl Waaler Kaas from Norway made his own race as an early starter. His lead on the first TV-control remained unbeatable during the whole race.

Waaler Kaas made an excellent performance! Anders Nordberg was the first of the top-stars, who managed to reach the same speed, but at the end he finished 21 seconds behind.

With most of the main favourites out of the game early, it looked like Karl had secured his first World Cup-victory. Until Peter Öberg passed the public control, just a couple of seconds behind.

Sweden’s biggest hope made a fantastic last loop, getting closer and closer to Waaler Kaas. “5-4-3-2-1” – screamed the speaker, while Peter pushed hard to the last meter.

And the result was surprising – equal time for both Öberg and Waaler Kaas! There are two winners of the third round of the World Cup! Swedish and Norwegian runner will start together in tomorrow’s chase start. Waaler Kaas took his first World Cup-victory, while Öberg got his second gold this season.

Anders Nordberg took the third place, 21 seconds behind the winning duo. Wingstedt, Gueorgiou and Andersson got the rest of the podium places. Last year’s World Cup-winner, Daniel Hubmann from Switzerland, took the 8th place.

Eight Norwegians, five Swedes, three French and three Swiss runners were among the top-20 today, giving a clear picture of the leading O-nations at the moment.
